FHM Mens Premier Team 2017

The Club’s Men’s 1^st team play in the NRFL Premier Division, having won promotion through winning the NRFL Division 1 title in 2015.

The team is proudly supported by our main sponsors Fix and coached by former All White Andrew Boyens. He brings a wealth of experience as a player here and overseas and also a strong coaching background with his current role at NZ Football.

He started his playing career with University of Otago and Dunedin Technical before transferring to University of New Mexico in 2004, where he was named a first-team All-American in 2006.

After briefly playing for Otago United in the New Zealand Football Championship, he joined MLS team Toronto FC. That was followed by spells at New York Red Bulls, Chivas USA and Los Angeles.

Following a stint as a head coach within the LA Galaxy Youth Academy, he returned to New Zealand football in February 2014 resuming his professional career when he signed with Waitakere United. 

He also made 19 appearances for the All Whites between 2007 and 2011 including being in the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad.

Supporting Andy as assistant coach is Jacob Spoonley. Jacob is also one of the Club's Goalkeeping Development coaches.  Jacob has considerable experience playing for Southern United, Auckland City, Wellington Phoenix, Miramar Rangers, and Team Wellington.  He has also represented New Zealand at U20, U23 and full international levels.

The Team is managed by Matt Sides.

This season the team is driven by a core of young local players who bleed black and white and have played for the Club since Junior Football. That core has been added to with some quality young and experienced talent in order to provide quality and depth to both the First and Reserve teams.
