Our Women's Premiers have knocked over Glenfield Rovers at their home by 3 golas to 1 to book a Kate Sheppard Cup final against Dunedin Technical.
Glenfield Rovers have struggled at McFetridge Park this season, winning just five of their 10 league games there and needing penalties in the one cup tie, and they couldn't make home advantage count against our determined team, laden with our age-group internationals.
It was a senior player who had the star turn, however. Striker Jane Barnett hasn't found the back of the net a lot this season, but did three times on Sunday, starting in the 19th minute, when a smart finish capped off a period of dominance for her side.
The game became more even after that, and the woodwork at both ends took a pasting, but once Barnett completed her hat-trick early in the second half, with an audacious attempt from range and a delicate finish over an advancing keeper, Glenfield's chances faded.
Liz Savage pulled one back for them just before the hour mark, but they couldn't get the second that would have set up a tense finish.
The final will be played at QBE stadium on Sunday 9th September.
