Ryan De Vries Returns

Ryan De Vries Returns

The Club is very pleased to welcome back Ryan to Becroft Park. Ryan played for the Club as a youngster in the late 2000’s.  Ryan was the Club’s Player of the Year in 2009 and was a strong force as a striker. In 2010 Ryan was the winner of the ASB Young Sportsperson of the Year in the football category.

Ryan’s footballing talents were formed in Cape Town Academies in his early years, moving to New Zealand and securing dual citizenship by his 18th birthday.

Under Article 7(D) Ryan had to wait until aged 23 to make his Full NZ International debut  v South Korea in April 2015.

Ryan has played at three FIFA Club World Cups with his Club Auckland City, and scored the only goal in the 3rd place play-off win v CONCACAF Champions Cruz Azul in December 2014.

At 24, Ryan has just completed a stellar season with the perennial achievers, finishing the ASB Premiership (NZ National League) as top scorer with 15 goals in 16 games, all from open play, including the stand-out goal of the season.

Auckland City went on to recapture the Oceania Champions League crown and with this, entry to FIFA Club World Cup in December 2016.
Ryan scooped Club, Players' and Supporters' Player of the Year to add to his Golden Boot and Goal of the Season awards.

We all look forward to Ryan tearing up Becroft Park and terrorising defences wearing the black of Forrest Hill Milford.
